In an ill-fated incident, a road accident claimed the life of one person on Sunday night at Phesama Village, Kohima.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Kohima and PRO, Relo T Aye confirmed that the accident occurred at 8:00 pm where a 23-year old male died on the spot.
The incident occurred when the bike, with the motorist and pillion rider heading to Kohima fell on the rear side of the truck. The pillion rider was said to have run over by the back wheel of the truck.
According to sources, the pillion rider was run over in the upper side of the body.
Although the bike had minimal damages, other sources informed that the motorist sustained minor injuries.
Police, on receipt of report about the incident, arrived on the spot. After taking the body to hospital and on conclusion of formalities, the body was handed over to family members.
The PRO further informed that the driver of the truck was absconding after the accident occurred and enquiry was on.
No FIR had been lodged during the time of filing the report.
