One shot dead by 'poacher'

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 15 (MExN): A conservation volunteer from Kivikhu village under Zunheboto district was allegedly shot down by a 'poacher' in the Kivikhu Community Conservation Area (CCA) on February 14.

According to sources, the deceased and one other were detailed by the Kivikhu Village Council to investigate a gunshot that was heard from the CCA when the incident took place on the night of February 14.

Sources from Satakha police station stated that the alleged shooter has been taken into custody, adding that a special investigator will be arriving from Dimapur to investigate the matter after which detailed press statement will be issued.
 

The CCA is part of Tizu Valley Biodiversity and Livelihood Network.
