A total of 6,196 informal workers from Nagaland have been registered in the e-Shram portal as on September 18, according to the data available on the official dashboard.

The e-Shram portal is the first-ever national database of unorganised workers (NDUW) launched by the Union government earlier on August 26.

The Union Ministry of Labour & Employment developed the portal with a view to build a comprehensive database of unorganized workforce in the country which will be seeded with Aadhaar.

It will have details of name, occupation, address, educational qualification, skill types and family details etc. for optimum realization of their employability and extend the benefits of the social security schemes to them, according to information available on the portal. Out of the 103,12,095 total registrations completed in the country till September 18, Nagaland has managed to register only 6196 unorganised workers in the portal. Out of these, 4385 registered through Common Service Centres (CSCs) and 1811 through self registration. Out of the total registered unorganized workers in Nagaland, 43.11% are male and 56.89% are female, according to the official dashboard.

The highest number of registration in the portal from the State was from the Agriculture sector comprising of 3889 workers while 659 were construction workers and 355 were domestic and household workers.

As per the latest data, states like Bihar (22,32,549), Odisha (21,69,554), Uttar Pradesh (11,76,911) and West Bengal (9,42,012) have registered the highest number of unorganized workers.

While smaller states and union territories (UTs) will understandably have a lesser number of workforce, the drive to register the unorganized workers in the State needs more push in order to help them avail the benefits envisaged in the initiative of the central government.
