Kiphire, March 7 (MExN): With an aim to spread awareness about oral health hygiene, a one-day oral health awareness camp was held at Tikenvong village under Pungro block, Kiphire district on February 27. The oral health camp was conducted under the leadership of Dr Weri Mero, dental surgeon from Pungro CHC.
According to a press release from District Media Officer Haichikambe Pame on Sunday, a total of 120 cases were registered during the day, wherein, 50 oral prophylaxis, 18 extractions, 12 root stumps, 10 temporary fillings, and 30 fluoride applications were carried out.
Meanwhile, members of Village Health Committee, Village Council and the villagers took active part during the event. The camp was organized to promote good oral health and dental hygiene as an unhealthy mouth, especially gum disease may increase risk of serious health problems such as heart attack, stroke, poorly controlled diabetes, and pattern problems, the release stated.
