Dimapur, June 2 (MExN): The Chakhroma Students’ Union has condemned the alleged molestation of a minor by her school principal, stating that "such sick and maniac behaviour should have no place in society."
In a press release on Wednesday, the union also questioned on what ground the alleged molester was granted bail “as the release of the culprit on bail based on the medical certificates dated back to 2013/2014.” Terming it as a “mockery to the judicial system,” it appealed all right-thinking citizens and organisation to come forward and stand for what is just and right.
TSUD: The Tenyimi Students' Union Dimapur (TSUD) while condemning the incident, appealed to the judiciary to thoroughly examine the case and immediately order the re-arrest of the culprit in order to give justice to the victim and reassure the public trust in the law.
DRSU: The Dimapur Rengma Students' Union (DRSU) meanwhile expressed outrage at the release of the accused on bail and appealed the state government to institute an inquiry committee and take appropriate action under the provisions of the law. It demanded that a non-bailable warrant under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
SKK: The All Sumi Students' Union (SKK) also voiced its displeasure on the reported release of the accused on bail “basing on the medical record dated back to 2013-14.” It also stated that with the accused “being the principal of the reputed school... and having influential background,” there were “high chances of hampering the investigation process and temperament of evidence.”
The union reposed faith in the court of law and expressed hope that it would look into the matter with top priority upon the genuine call of various organisations. It urged the concerned authority to detain the culprit and assure that the accused does not get away under the shield of law and affirmed its stand to deliver justice to the victim.
