Orgs crackdown on illegal drugs, expired food items in Zunheboto

Zunheboto, January 29 (MExN): The Zunheboto Range Students' Union (ZRSU) and Zunheboto Sumi Totimi Hoho (ZSTH) conducted a joint operation in which illegal drug items and expired food products were seized from local drug peddlers and shopkeepers in Zunheboto.

Disguised a buyers, the organisations conducted the operation and caught the offenders, Nito Zhimo President ZRSU shared. Zhimo said that it was disheartening to see young students’ lives being spoilt by use of intoxicants and added that, as a student leader, it was their duty to do away with it. Boholi Chishi, President ZSTH said that as concerned mothers of the society, the ZSTH has been trying to eradicate the threat of drugs on youth.

She stated that the team would keep working to tackle the menace in the society.

The seized items were destroyed at the local dump yard on January 29 in the presence of Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Zunheboto and his staff. Items seized by the NSCN (IM) and NSCN (KK) Sumi region were also handed over to the team.

The SDPO lauded the ZRSU and ZSTH team for the efforts towards the well being of the society. He informed that the police personnel have also been engaged in tackling the issue and appealed more continued cooperation from the ZRSU and ZSTH in the days to come.
