More than 89,500 Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) Smart Cards were issued covering the entire Nagaland state during the period 2011-12. RSBY is a health insurance scheme implemented through the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, to benefit the unrecognized sector workers with special reference to BPL families.
In Nagaland, the department of labour is successfully implementing the scheme as nodal agency for Nagaland state. Nearly 4, 750 beneficiaries have already availed free medical treatment in the state through the empanelled hospitals till date. Mentionably, during the last three years of RBSY scheme implementation the department has earned four national awards for the state.
Meanwhile, the department is gearing up to cover all families under BPL, AAY and all job card holders under MGNREGA scheme by RSBY with the approval of the GoI. It is expected that at least 4 lakh families will be covered under the scheme by the end of March 2013 providing free medical services.
The department has further included M/s Mondamo Memorial Hospital Wokha Town, Eleutheros Christian Hospital, Tuensang and Dr. Rochil Hospital, Zunheboto for servicing beneficiaries under RSBY scheme. The inclusion of these hospitals is expected to provide better and doorstep free medical services to the respective RSBY beneficiary families of these three districts, the department said.
