PAC condemns ‘forced closure’ of transport agency

Dimapur, October 21 (MExN): The Public Action Committee (PAC) on Wednesday censured the alleged forced closure of the East India Transport Agency Dimapur franchise which is run by two Naga entrepreneurs and demanded the arrest of the culprits within seven days.

In a press release on Wednesday, the PAC Media Cell claimed that the franchise had been forcefully closed down on October 19, “as the proprietors did not comply to syndicate's dictates and notices on unabated taxation, which is prevalent in the transport agencies in Nagaland.”

PAC stands for protection of the law abiding citizens of Dimapur from such unlawful, arbitrary and unreasonable actions by unscrupulous elements, it said in the press release.

Stating that there should not be any such obstruction nor discrimination against genuine citizens, and that free enterprise and the right to operate their businesses smoothly without any obstructions should be allowed in Dimapur which is the main trade and commerce center for Nagaland, the PAC demanded that the culprits should be arrested within 7 days of this press release.

The PAC will not tolerate any form of anti social activities and “dada-giri” with no respect to the rule of law of the land, it added.
