PAC meets CP, decides to ‘suspend course of action’

Dimapur, October 7 (MExN): The Public Action Committee (PAC) and the Commissioner of Police (CP) Dimapur held a joint meeting on October 7 following the expiry of the Committee’s deadline with regard to the September 22 incident where a driver from Assam was shot dead in Dimapur.

After assurance from the CP that the matter will be thoroughly investigated, the PAC informed that it has decided to suspend the course of action so that investigations are not hampered.

In its press release, the PAC appreciated the action of the police in apprehending three 3 suspects who are reportedly under custody for further investigation. 

It expressed confidence in the efficiency of the police and urged them not to “shy away from revealing the final investigation report to the public.”

PAC also remind the State government of the October 31, 2020 deadline given by it to pass legislation on 'Control of Crime Act' similar to Goonda Act prevalent in other states.

“Our determination to see this act passed in the State Assembly still stands unwavering and committed,” the Committee asserted.
