Padum Pukhuri Village Council takes up COVID-19 safety measures

Dimapur, April 25 (MExN): In pursuance to the directive issued by Dimapur Deputy Commissioner on April 21, the Padum Pukhuri Village Council (PPVC) held an emergency meeting on April 24 and resolved on several measures to control the spread of COVID-19 in the village.

According to a statement issued by the PPVC, the Council has resolved to ban sale of second hand goods and vendors coming from outside the village in the Weekly Market (Monday Bazaar) till further orders from the Council office.

However, vegetables and fruits vendors residing in the village are allowed to continue to sell their goods at the weekly market venue maintaining SOPs strictly including wearing of face mask and physical distancing in the market throughout the business hour, it added.

All the shop owners/keepers in the village have been directed to follow COVID-19 SOPs laid down by the District Task Force. The Council resolved to penalize any shop found at fault.

A COVID-19 Task Force in the village was also set up during the meeting. It will be headed by Tsenyimthung Kikon VCM Chairman, Medical Committee, Kashito Kiba VCM Member, Ratul Mech VCM Member, Kikhu Semy GB Member and Imna Aier GB Member.

The emergency meeting also decided to organize coordination meeting with the Community leaders in few days' time for further follow up steps required to be taken, it added.
