Dimapur, November 14 (MExN): The People’s Army of Nagaland (PAN) on Saturday claimed that its mobile camp was attacked by ‘some misguided Naga nationalists,’ resulting in an exchange of fire.
A press release issued on November 13, by MIP Deputy Kilonser Nikato Pilot Sumi of the Nyemlang led NSCN (K) stated that during the attack, members from a rival group tried to shoot one of its cadres as he went to fetch water following which there was an exchange of fire. The release stated that there was no casualty from its side.
“It can be surmised that their motive seems to be more on the side of provoking and creating a non- conducive Naga political situation,” it stated.
“For whatever purpose and intent, NSCN/GPRN does not understand these misguided Nagas as to how bloodshed among Nagas would benefit the Nagas and our political movement. NSCN/GPRN does not believe that fratricidal acts among Nagas would result or bring us closer to our ultimate goal of a sovereign Nagaland for Christ,” the release stated.
