Para-veterinarians trained on Livestock Insurance Scheme

Officials and Paraveterinarians during a one-day training program on Livestock Insurance Scheme under NLM 2025-26 held at CVO Conference Hall, Kohima.

Kohima, April 28 (MExN): A one-day training programme for para-veterinarians on the Livestock Insurance Scheme under the National Livestock Mission (NLM) 2025–26 was held at the CVO Conference Hall in Kohima on April 27.

According to the State DIPR, the programme was organised to strengthen awareness and encourage wider adoption of livestock insurance among farmers and field functionaries in the district.

Delivering the welcome and keynote address, Chief Veterinary Officer, Kohima, Dr Asangla Jamir highlighted the importance of the insurance scheme in protecting farmers from sudden financial losses.

She said securing livestock is a key step towards sustainable livestock development and emphasised the role of para-veterinarians in creating awareness among livestock farmers in their respective areas.

Technical sessions covered various aspects of the scheme. Deputy Director Dr Menguzenuo Chielie spoke on the overall scheme, including its objectives, animal coverage and premium rates. Dr N Suokhrie explained claim procedures and documentation requirements under the scheme.

The programme was chaired by District Demonstration and Development Officer (DDDO), Kohima, Dr Ketholenuo Metha, while the invocation was pronounced by Senior Veterinary Field Assistant (SVFA) Rokokholie Chücha.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Joint Director Dr Elizabeth Yhome.
