Pathso, October 2 (MExN): Concerned citizens, community leaders, and organisations of Pathso village came together to rally against the menacing grip of drug abuse in the community. The rally was held at Shiemong, Pathso village, under the joint collaboration of Pathso Students’ Union, Pathso Mienyu Hoikam, and Pathso Public Organisation. 

This event held on October 2, marked a crucial step in the fight against drug abuse, with the collective message that, it is time to take action and address the pressing issue of drug abuse that continues to inflict harm in the society, stated a press release issued by P Zuhing, President, Pathso Students’ Union. 

Speaking at the event, Echungbemo Erui, EAC Panso, stressed that drugs abuse and alcoholism are the society’s biggest issues, which need to be addressed before they become incurable and uncontrollable cancer. Mentioning that they not only affect the users but the entire society, he called for collective efforts to fight against it. 

While applauding the leaders of the village for taking the right approach for its eradication, he suggested for more awareness campaign, to which the district administration assured their unwavering moral support.    

Expressing concerns and advises, short messages were delivered by various leaders like Village Council Chairman, Head Goanbura, Presidents of Pathso Mienyu Hoikam (PMH), Pathso Public Organisation (PPO), and Pathso Range Public Organisation (PRPO).

The programme was chaired by Heno, General Secretary, PSU, invocation was pronounced by Women Pastor Shongmau, benediction by Pastor Mukom and a special song was presented by Chellio, Choirmaster.

The programme began with a procession in the village and concluded with the adoption of resolutions.
