Mon, November 18 (MExN): Director, Urban Development Department & Mission Director, State Urban Development Agency, Takatuba Aier inaugurated the Patient Attendant Lodge at Mon on November 17. The project was undertaken by the Urban Development Department under DAY-NULM. 

A DIPR report stated that Aier highlighted the various components of the NULM Scheme under which the lodge has been constructed. He stated that the component of Shelter for Urban Homeless (SUH)-DAY-NULM was modified with the prior permission from the Ministry to allow for the building of such patient attendant lodges in the urban areas of the State without any homeless population. He asserted that such modifications were deemed necessary to help the caregivers/attendants of patients with limited resources from other parts of the District. 

Aier highlighted the guidelines for running the Lodge which includes formation of a Committee to be headed by the Deputy Commissioner or Administrator of Town Council, nominal fees/rent to be charged for maintenance, food to be served at a subsidised rate. He stated that the building has all the necessary facilities with 23 bedded rooms, 24×7 water supply, kitchen, dining room etcetera. 

Aier further highlighted the various self-employment schemes under the Department and encouraged the people of the District to avail such schemes and use it wisely for their growth and betterment. 

Deputy Commissioner Mon, Thavaseelan K, IAS thanked the Department, Civil Societies and NGOs for their support in retaining the project in the District while it was undergoing some hurdles and challenges. He stated that the project addresses a major problem for people coming from other parts of the District. He expressed gratitude and appreciation upon the Department and the former AUDO Mon, Y Kunyangse, under whose supervision, the project was completed in record time. He requested the people to use the premises with utmost care for the benefit of all. 

The inaugural programme was chaired by AUDO Mon, Thungdemo R Humtsoe. Dr Wungyong Konyak delivered the welcome address while P Ngaching Konyak delivered the vote of thanks.
