Dimapur, March 9 (MExN): Model and entrepreneur, Ketholeno Kense Vihienuo (Leno) graced the International Women’s Day event organized by Women Cell, Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) at Bundrock Memorial Auditorium on March 8. 

Leno said the International Women’s Day (IWD) was a reminder of the many sacrifices and struggles that women around the world face every single day. “But this is also a celebration of the achievements and the possibilities of a bright future for us women,” she said. On the theme of the celebration ‘Choose to challenge’, Leno challenged the gathering comprising mostly of women faculty, staff and students to learn new things each day.

On the occasion, the college felicitated five senior women faculty who have served the college for over 25 years; Margaret Shishak, Dr Jyoti George Roy, Tiakhala Jamir Shomrat, Dr Vivee Peseyie, Angel Sobari. 24 women toppers from BA, BSc, Bcom, BCA, BVoc, BMus, MA and MSc were also felicitated. Dr Jyoti George Roy, Associate Professor, English department urged the women gathered to challenge social constructs and stereotypes which reduced the significance of women. 

Earlier, Randanbeni Patton of Multimedia Mass Communication department bagged the first position in the drawing competition.
