PDA coordinate committees to assist in monsoon affected areas

Dimapur, August 6 (MExN): The People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) had set up coordination committees comprising the presidents of its respective constituent parties at district level to assist relief effort.  

It was decided during PDA's emergency meeting on August 6 at Dimapur held to review the present situation in Nagaland as a result of the calamities caused due to incessant rains, a release issued by PDA Media Cell said.  

“These PDA committees will have coordination meetings and also meet with the district administration in order to extend any assistance and logistics if necessary for carrying out relief and rehabilitation,” it informed.  

It also stated that the committees will furnish information of damages, calamities or difficulties at respective district administrations for follow up actions.  

“All MLAs and party functionaries appointed to various government positions will be contributing one month’s salary towards the relief fund and we also appeal to all rank and files of the PDA parties to contribute voluntarily towards the relief fund drive,” it appealed.  

The party, in the release expressed condolences to the members of those families who lost their lives and conveyed concern to those citizens undergoing difficulties due to flood, landslides and sinking zones caused by the heavy rains.  

It later appreciated the Government of Nagaland and all concerned government and non-government agencies including the administration, police and paramilitary, the NSDMA and the NDPF for being alert to the situation and contributing towards prevalence of normality.  

It lauded the Government of India for the positive response by extending all possible assistance and also deputing the Ministry of State (Home), Kiren Rijiju to visit the State and take stock of the prevailing condition.
