Monyakshu Village Students’ Union celebrates 50 years
Mon, January 4 (MExN): Speaking on behalf of the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio at the golden jubilee of the Monyakshu Village Students’ Union (MVSU) on January 4, Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change and Law & Justice, CM Chang underlined the need for a change in the people’s mindset which he said was the urgent need of the hour.
“No work should be too great or too low to take up,” the Minister said in reference to the importance of work culture against the present competitive level of the Naga job scenario in the state.
CM Chang congratulated the student’s union and their pioneers for their vision and selfless sacrifice, braving the odds throughout the last 50 years to bring the Union to this momentous occasion.
“A vibrant student or youth today is one of the strongest foundation blocks of the village”, the speech read and continued that the students were the backbone of the village therefore, the organizers had the immense responsibility to look after the welfare of the people besides pursuing their individual careers.
Giving details of the pass percentage of the NBSE, the Chief Minister’s speech sounded concern on the overall decreasing pass percentage in NBSE in the state as compared to CBSE schools. It also touched on the importance of life skills, good habit, manners in addition to right attitude and good education to build a successful life.
“Just having degrees or academic qualification is not sufficient to set jobs – one needs to have the right skills and attitude along with education to be able to find jobs,” the speech stated. It also informed that the Government had taken an initiative of sponsoring Naga students to undergo professional coaching in order to help more Nagas appear the UPSC Exams.
“Even after 50 years of statehood, we are still a consumer economy,” it stated while adding that though the Government was implementing various programs and policies to empower the people, all must work together for effective change. “One should not depend only on the Government for change, but each and every one of us must do our part for the betterment of our society and state to see real change,” the speech emphasised.
A DIPR report stated that the Minister also inaugurated the Monyakshu Model Village and unveiled the MVSU Golden Jubilee Memorial stone.
The Deputy Commissioner, Mon Thavaseelan K (IAS) also congratulated the MVSU and commended the students leaders of the village and area for the commendable job they were doing for the village and area.
Welcome address was given by N Bongkhao Konyak, Advisor DUDA, and short speech was given by Bumang Phaiba, President Konyak Students’ Union. The Wangti Village Students’ Union, the Yongkhao Village Students’ Union and the Monyakshu Village Student’s Union performed their cultural dance. The programme was chaired by A Sangti Nyeiwwang and L Mary Shainyu.
