Dimapur, August 3 (MExN): The incessant rain for several days causing floods in several parts of Dimapur town and its adjoining areas has caused grave concern in the minds of the public. Few schools and colleges in some colonies have to remain closed due to water-logging in the campuses.
A press note received here stated that in order to take stock of the situation in and around Dimapur town, an emergency meeting was convened by the Minister of PHED Jacob Zhimomi on August 3.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur Sushil Kumar IAS, who is also the Chairman of Disaster Management Committee of Dimapur district, Engineers from PWD (Road and Bridges) Department, Irrigation and Flood Control and Food Corporation of India.
The Minister briefed and instructed the officers to take stock of the situation immediately and make an assessment of the properties lost caused by the natural calamities in Dimapur district. The Minister further appealed the officers to be ready to face and take certain steps for the worst events.
