Kohima, May 22 (MExN): In view of the surge in COVID-19 cases in Phek district and in order to contain the spread of COVID-19, all the villages under Phek district have been directed to activate the Village Disaster Management Authority (VDMA) immediately.
Phek Deputy Commissioner Razouvolie Dozo stated in an order that the VDMA may include village health workers and other volunteers.
The roles and responsibilities of the Committee is to assist the government agency, handling and management of dead bodies, monitoring of COVID-19 related cases and coordinating with District Task Force/Block Level Task Force, sealing/cordoning of the house in the event of detection COVID-19 on the order of the authority, unsealing of the house in the event of recovery on the order of the authority, enforcement of government SOPS and guidelines on COVID-19 in the village, disseminating of necessary information in the village and any other duties/responsibilities assigned by the District Task Force/Block Level Task Force.
Phek DC stated that the Committee will be provided with PPE kit, gloves, mask, sanitizer, body bag, etc by the medical department through concerned SMO/MO or health workers of the nearest CHC/PHC as and when needed.
