The 50th anniversary celebration of District Hospital, Phek took place today at Phek town with MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu as the special guest. The programme took place at Dr Wethselo T Mero Memorial Hall, District Hospital Phek.
Speaking on the occasion, Azo said that the celebration of 50 years is a very significant day where one needs to introspect and retrospect and rededicate for betterment of the people. Extending gratitude to God for blessings and pioneers of the District Hospital Phek, Azo said that the Hospital has come a long way from Civil Hospital Phek 50 bedded to District Hospital Phek which was upgraded 100 bedded at present.
He cautioned the gathering that COVID was far from over and the situation is even likely to get worse with the new COVID variant called Omicron. “During this festive season, one must give priority to safety first,” he said adding that SOPs be maintained at all cost by maintaining social distance protocol, wearing masks, wash hands properly and take all precaution measures to stay safe and healthy.
Also speaking on the occasion, MLA Kezhienyi Khalo appreciated the staff and requested them to continue giving their best in serving the people.
Phek, Deputy Commissioner Razouvolie Dozo also delivered short speech. The function was chaired by Dr. Khriezotuo Paphino, CMO Phek while welcome address was delivered by Dr Avile Zao, MS, Dist. Hospital Phek. A brief history of District Hospital Phek was given by Dr. Ngopelo Keviechu, SMO. Vote of thanks was pronounced by Dr. Wemeri Khutsoh, Convenor, Jubilee Committee.
