Phek district conducts capacity building training on TB elimination

Phek, October 2 (MExN): Senior Medical Officers (SMOs), Medical Officers (MOs) and Community Health Officers (CHOs) of Phek district were imparted ‘Capacity Building Training on Clinical Vignette: Tuberculosis (TB)’ at the Dr Wethselo T Mero Memorial Hall, District Hospital Phek on September 30. According to a press release, Dr Ngopelo Keviechu, SMO, DH Phek was the resource person while Phek Chief Medical Officer Dr Khriezotuo Paphino was the moderator during the training.

The resource person highlighted the various activities of the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP).He also briefed the participants on the Tuberculosis case detection, case notification, latest treatment guidelines and multi drug resistance TB screening and treatment protocols.

The need to involve community for early case detection to achieve the Tuberculosis Elimination programme by 2025 was also emphasized on during the training. The resource person also elaborated on the importance of timely referral from Primary Health Centre, Health & Wellness Centres to the nearest District Tuberculosis Treatment Centre for necessary investigation of Case confirmation and treatment initiations. He also shared information that the NTEP provides an amount of Rs 500 for TB patients and Rs 750 for travel expenses during follow up treatment.
