The Phom Union Mokokchung celebrated Phom Monyiu 2022 at Town hall, Mokokchung on April 2. Phom Monyiu is a spring festival invoking God's blessings to have a bountiful harvest and is observed after the sowing of paddy is done in the paddy fields and is celebrated for six days from 1 to 6 April every year.
I Mangko Jamir, Legal Advisor, Ao Senden, representing the Ao Senden at the festival said that the theme of love, truth, benevolence and kindness should always be there among different tribal hohos in the town. As a lawyer, he also said, “apart from keeping our customs and traditions alive, we should revoke those customs which are against the constitution.”
Chang community Mokokchung presented a special song while President of ENPUM, Sumi Community Mokokchung and Konyak Union Mokokchung gave short speeches. A community feast followed after the formal session of the feast.
