Photography competition marks wildlife week in Wokha

Wokha, October 8 (MExN): Observing the wildlife week from October 2 to 8, the Wokha Forest Division and Doyang Plantation Division jointly organised Wildlife Week Celebration 2020 at office premises on October 7 under the theme ‘Sustaining all life on Earth.’ 

To commemorate the celebration, photography competition on the topic “Vistas of Mt. Tiyi and its Biodiversity” was organized for schools and colleges in Wokha district, which saw many exciting entries. 

The winner for the senior category was bagged by Lichamo Yanthan from Mt Tiyi College, followed by Lumchen from Libemo Memorial School. In the junior category, Nchumthung Ezung was adjudged the winner followed by Zuchobeni from Libemo Memorial School. The consolation prizes were awarded to Athungo Tsanglao and Yanpolumi Kikon from Grace School, Chanchithung and Nchumthung Ezung from Libemo Memorial School and Lisenbeni K Tsopoe and Senchano Martha N. Yanthan from Don Bosco Higher Secondary School.

Earlier, the keynote address was delivered by Zuthunglo Patton, IFS, DFO Wokha where she stressed on the importance of conserving wildlife in particular and biodiversity in general citing local examples. She encouraged the participants to continue exploring their surroundings in order to better appreciate and understand nature and biodiversity. 

The vote of thanks was proposed by Chisayi, IFS, DFO, Doyang Plantation Division and Lansothung Lotha, RFO, Baghty was the chairperson.
