Nagaland’s governor RN Ravi today informed that in the urban sector under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) Housing for All (Urban) by 2022; the Plan of Action for 32 towns have been approved by the Government of India.
Under RAY (Rajiv Awas Yojana), the Department of Urban Development is implementing the construction of Housing for the Urban Poor at Tseminyu & Medziphema Towns which shall benefit 675 urban poor families, Ravi said in his address to 5th session of 13th NLA here today.
“My Government continues laying great stress on agriculture, which is not only the main occupation of the people of Nagaland, but also a substantial contributor to the State's GDP,” he said adding that in order to achieve food security & economic stability, growth of this sector is essential.
He said that state’s main focus has been on organic farming for which the state will soon be adopting an Organic Policy.
Moreover, Agriculture Department since its inception has been focusing on achieving "Food sufficiency" and "zero hunger," he said adding that the government of Nagaland is also committed to double farmers' income by 2022.
Under PM Kisan, till date 1,58,104 farmers in the State have benefitted and Rs 79.86 crore have been credited scheme, credited directly to their accounts.
Moreover, Farmers Development Programme is under implementation in all the districts. He said Nagaland silk has been acclaimed for its high quality.
The Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Department is building three more Veterinary Hospitals in Mon, Tseminyu and Mangkolemba with a view to further facilitate Veterinary Services to the public. The Department is committed towards further enhancing meat, milk and egg production by providing efficient service delivery system to the farmers.
Nagaland is among the largest pork consuming States in the country and effective steps have been initiated to not only be self-sufficient but also to export, he said. Prime Minister's 'Neel Kranti Mission' (Blue Revolution) vision to achieve economic prosperity of fishermen and fish farmers of the country and to contribute towards food and nutritional security is being fully implemented with renewed vigour in the State. As an important step towards ensuring food security, the Department of Food & Civil Supplies has achieved 100% online allocation of food-grains up to the Fair Price Shops (FPSs) level for the digitized NFSA beneficiaries.
