KOHIMA, MAY 31 (MExN): The Planning & Transformation Department accorded a farewell to Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) Meyinuksung on the eve of his superannuation from government service on May 30 at the department's conference hall in Kohima.
According to a DIPR report, Additional Development Commissioner Vilhouhunuo Sachu said Meyinuksung joined government service on February 15, 1996 as a Planning Assistant through the Nagaland Public Service Commission. He served in various capacities across the state before being promoted as DDC in April 2025 and retired on May 31 upon attaining the age of superannuation.
Principal Secretary and Development Commissioner Y Kikheto Sema, IAS, spoke about his long association with officers of the Planning Department and expressed happiness at being posted to the department towards the end of his service career.
Describing the department as one of the most important and efficient in the state, Sema said he was impressed that Meyinuksung had spent 29 years serving in various districts out of his 31 years of government service. He said the retiring officer had made significant contributions to grassroots development.
Reflecting on retirement, Sema remarked that just as every person is certain of death though its timing is unknown, government servants know the date of their retirement. He said not everyone is fortunate enough to complete their service tenure and retire in good health and congratulated Meyinuksung on reaching the milestone.
On behalf of the Government of Nagaland and the department, Sema conveyed appreciation for Meyinuksung's dedicated service and wished him a healthy and fulfilling retired life.
In his farewell address, Meyinuksung expressed gratitude to colleagues, officers and staff for their support throughout his career. He said his colleagues had been "companions in service, a source of strength during difficult times, and partners in both achievements and challenges."
Recalling his early days in service, he said he entered government service with limited experience but a clear intention to serve the people and contribute to the state's progress. He also thanked his family for their support during postings across different districts.
Meyinuksung further sought forgiveness for any mistakes or shortcomings during his years of service and wished the department continued success.
The programme was chaired by Joint Development Commissioner N Likao Kikon. Invocation was pronounced by Planning Assistant Ikatoli Kahoto, while a special song was presented by Mhonbemo Murry.
