Officials along with the winners of the Men’s Open Volleyball Tournament held in Dimapur on September 11.
Dimapur, September 11 (MExN): Playing Spikers emerged champions of the Men’s Open Volleyball Tournament after defeating Friends Zone in the final here on Friday. Team 711 secured third place after defeating Livingstone Foundation College in the playoff.
The closing ceremony was attended by Ashok Kumar Yadav, Commandant, 173 Bn CRPF, Dimapur, along with Guests of Honour Nokin ACP, Niuland NCS; Dr Tiakaba Jamir, Principal, Government College Dimapur; Gwanilie, Chief Manager, SBI Bazaar Branch; Dr Rungkhel Francis Anal, Principal, St Stephen’s Higher Secondary School; and Dilip Deb, Principal, Evershine School.
Playing Spikers displayed strong teamwork and athleticism to claim the title, while Friends Zone finished runners-up.
Addressing the gathering, Yadav said the tournament was organised with the twin objectives of providing talented youth of Nagaland a platform to showcase their sporting skills and promote the messages of Khelo India and Fit India.
He said the tournament was also organised under the CRPF’s SPANDAN (Sports for Peace and Development Across Nation) initiative to strengthen trust, friendship and cooperation between the Force and the public.
“I am proud to say that both objectives have been fully achieved,” Yadav said.
The tournament concluded with the distribution of prizes and certificates by the dignitaries.
Playing Spikers received Rs 10,000 and certificates, while Friends Zone were awarded Rs 6,000 and certificates. Team 711 received Rs 4,000 and certificates for finishing third.
