PM lays foundation stone and flagged off trains of NFR area

Maligaon, March 2 (MExN): Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated, dedicated, and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth Rs. 1.62 lakh crore across the country on March 2. Out of this, Rs 27 thousand crore has been dedicated to Bihar state. He participated in a public programme and inaugurated, dedicated and laid the foundation stone of several projects related to sectors like railways, power, roadways etc. for the state.

Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said that he arrived at Begusarai, Bihar with the resolution of developing Bihar through the creation of Viksit Bharat. He acknowledged the large crowd and thanked his good fortunes for the love and blessings of the people. He also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of several railway projects worth about Rs 3917 crore. 

Among these projects, foundation stone for doubling of Mukuria-Katihar-Kumedpur railway line of 64 kms stretch, with a budget cost of Rs 942 crore is laid down under the “PM’s Gati Shakti Scheme”. This project will enhance & ease the sectional capacity thus helping in better mobility of East & North bound train movement from Northeast part of the country. Another electrification project of Katihar-Jogbani rail section has been inaugurated with a budget cost of Rs 151 crore covering 106route kilometres powering sections of Katihar, Purnea & Araria districts of Bihar state. As Jogbani is near the Nepal border, so goods carrying trains with more load will be able to move smoothly towards Nepal benefiting traders and businessmen of the region.

Both the projects will be an added boon for the NF Railway zone that covers certain part of Bihar & West Bengal. These projects will further help in feasible operations of more passenger & freight trains seamlessly, simultaneously boosting the economy of the nation. Infact, it will boost the overall development of both regions of Katihar district of Bihar & Malda district of West Bengal by creating a flurry of socio-economic activities offering several employment opportunities for the people of the region. PM also flagged off four express trains for enhancing the connectivity of Bihar state with rest of the nation. The trains are Danapur-Jogbani Express (via Darbhanga-Sakri), Jogbani-Saharsa Express, Sonpur-Vaishali Express and Jogbani-Siliguri Express. Apart for the above, inauguration of Raghopur-Forbesganj Gauge Conversion & foundation stone for Barauni-Bachhwara 3rd and 4th line rail project was also laid.
