PM to flag off Vande Bharat Express between New Jalpaiguri to Patna

Maligaon, March 10 (MExN): To provide world class travelling experience to passengers of New Jalpaiguri & Patna route, one new Vande Bharat Express will be flagged off virtually by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 12. The PM will also inaugurate and lay foundation stone of various infrastructural development projects at 764 locations across the country on the same day, stated a press release from Sabyasachi De, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR.

The PM will flag off a world record of 6000 projects worth over Rs 85,000 crore. 10,000 railway screens at various stations across the country will live stream the mega function. A total of 1584 ‘One Station One Product’ stalls will be dedicated.14 category Vishwakarmas will be invited totaling to almost 6 lakh. New goods sheds will be inaugurated. Over Indian Railways, 1476MT loading were done in 2023-24 as compared to corresponding period of previous year which is 1405 MT, i.e. 70MT more which results in increased earning. Solar panels are to be installed at station buildings/service buildings. Around, 2500 km of New Lines/Gauge Conversion/Doubling to be dedicated to the nation and 50 Jan Aushadhi Kendras will be inaugurated to provide generic medicines at low cost. Setting up of Rail Coach Restaurants is planned. 

In a bid to reduce carbon emission, 40000 km of track electrification were done in last 10 years. Indian Railways is moving towards 2X25 kV traction which will enable longer, heavier and faster trains (faster than 160 kmph).

Along with the other items, the PM will inaugurate 77 outlets of ‘One Station One Product’ in Assam, 40 outlets in West Bengal, nine outlets in Bihar, five outlets in Tripura and two outlets in Arunachal Pradesh falling under the jurisdiction of NFR. Also, five Rail Coach Restaurants in Assam, two in West Bengal and 05 in Bihar will be inaugurated. Three Kendras of Jan Ausadhiin Assam and one in Bihar will also be inaugurated.

Adding wings to the PM Gati Shakti initiative, two Gati Shakti Terminals i.e. one at Moinarband in Cachar district and the other at Cinnamara in Jorhat district of Assam will be dedicated. Further, nine Goods Sheds in Assam, three in West Bengal and one in Bihar under NFR will also be dedicated along with laying of foundation stone of additional pit line at Alipurduar in West Bengal. 
Some newly constructed doubling sections of the New Bongaigaon-Agthori via Rangiya & New Bongaigaon-Kamakhya via Goalpara Town sections will be also inaugurated.
