FIR withdrawn by complainant

The parties involved in the armed intimidation case involving an officer of the Nagaland Police have arrived at a compromise. Two days after the incident occurred, the victim/complainant and the accused officer reportedly came to a private settlement.
According to a copy of a ‘Declaration,’ dated August 2, signed by the two parties, the accused officer, Blesto Zhimo tendered apology, which was accepted by the victim. He tendered “sincere apology” and sought forgiveness from the victim, Khruvota and his family for threatening the latter with a weapon on July 31. It said, “I declare that, I shall not harbour any grudges but live in true brotherhood spirit.”
Zhimo is reported to be the Officer-in-Charge of a police station in Zunheboto district.
Khruvoto followed up by accepting the apology and forgiving Zhimo “in good Christian faith.” As per the ‘Declaration,” Khruvoto withdrew the FIR he filed against Zhimo at the Diphupar Police Station. The FIR was registered under section 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) read with Section 25 (1A) of the Arms Act.
The declaration was counter-signed by the Western Chakhesang Hoho and Western Sumi Hoho as witnesses.
The FIR and subsequent private compromise stemmed from a parcel delivery dispute on July 31 at Naga United village, Chümoukedima. Khruvota, a Field Executive of the Delhivery courier company, alleged that Zhimo refused to pay after receiving and opening the package claiming the content was not what was ordered. During the verbal dispute that followed, Zhimo pulled out a pistol to threaten Khruvota. The situation was defused after the accused officer’s driver reportedly intervened.
Whether the police department would conduct a departmental disciplinary inquiry remained unclear. The Nagaland Police Headquarters was still to make a comment on the incident.
