Kohima, April 30 (MExN): Office of the Director General of Police, Nagaland has informed all widow/ widower pensioners of Nagaland police drawing pension under NPRIS that, a new NPRIS Rules 2014 has been notified with effect from April 30, 2014 which will come into force from July 1, 2014. It will amend the provisions of contribution and benefits where the existing system of monthly pension payment to widow/ widower for the next 20 years will be discontinued with effect from June 30, 2014 and in lieu of that, commuted amount for the remaining pension period will be paid in one installment at the rate of Rs 500/- for six months for the remaining pension period.
Therefore, all the NPRIS pensioners have been directed to submit their claims along with non-marriage certificate duly certified by concerned unit commanders of NPRIS Cell, Police Headquarters (PHQ) within six months with effect from April 30, 2014 to settle the claims. Failure to submit the claim within the stipulated period will amount to forfeiting of the future amount of NPRIS fund, stated a press release issued by K Martin Pienyu, Assistant Inspector General of Police (Admin) & Secretary NPRIS. Calculation methodologies and other points are al clarified in the amended rules, it added. All beneficiaries have been requested to contact the unit commanders concerned for any clarification.
