State Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio urged policemen to constantly upgrade their skills and knowledge through better keeping in pace with the modern day’s development in technology. Rio, who inaugurated the Common Integrated Police Application (CIPA) project at the Kohima North Police station this said even the criminals are increasingly using sophisticated techniques and weapons for committing, therefore, it is of utmost importance that the policemen also become better educated and better trained to match up with the innovative ways the criminals are resorting to.
CIPA project is computerization of all police station across the country and is being sponsored Ministry Home Affairs as a part of police modernization programme. In the Nagaland first phase will cover Kohima district, second will cover Dimapur, Mokokchung and Peren districts, while the rest of the police station in the third phase.
CIPA project envisages computerization of all records in all the police stations, including crime data and records, which will help in the creation of a national level crime database. These records can be accessed by all police stations in the country through computer networks and internet.
Rio also emphasized on the need establish a better and more professional training institutions for policemen. Stating that even to make full use of the facilities of CIPA police will have to upgrade their knowledge, Rio urged upon the policemen to be ready to put in more hard works, in the areas of collecting data, analyzing them and feeding them to the computer database correctly and accurately. Otherwise, the project he inaugurated today will not be used to its maximum advantage Rio added.
