Telecom service providers in Nagaland were in for some rap on Monday for alleged below par service in the state. It came from none other than a Cabinet Minister, Jacob Zhimomi, who, besides pointing out the poor service, maintained that remedial measures should be taken by the service providers at the earliest.
Zhimomi, who holds charge of the PHED, tweeted, “Telecom services in Nagaland is not providing quality service to our people and the state. If such is the case, state cabinet may take a decision soon in the matter. Therefore appropriate measures may be taken by the service providers at d earliest,” while also tagging the official Twitter handles of two major players in Nagaland— BSNL and Airtel.
The Tweet garnered a flurry of responses with users continuing on to tag Jio and Vodafone Idea (Vi).
“… indeed telecom services in nagaland is getting worser (sic) each day...” commented one, while another said, “High time for our ministers to call out these service providers who are selling us 3G service in the name of 4G.”
Another hinted at the erratic power supply as contributing to the poor telecom service, while comparing the services of two service providers.
Two of the tagged service providers went on damage control mode reacting to the critique.
Replying to the Minister’s remark, BSNL tweeted, “Dear Sir, we regret the inconvenience caused. We will look into any issues and will do our best to resolve them at the earliest. We assure our customers of striving to provide quality services, always.”
Tagged in the replies to the Minister’s tweet, Jiocare responded with “Let’s make sure you’re getting the best possible service. Kindly DM your Jio number, an alternate number and the exact issue you are facing with our services (no network, slow speed, unable to browse) to assist you further…”
Airtel and Vi were still to respond at the time of filing this report.
Attempt to contact Minister Zhimomi over phone for further comment was unsuccessful.
