
Dimapur, March 19 (MExN): The COVID-19 sample positivity rate in Nagaland remained below 5% for the fourth consecutive week as the weekly positivity rate decreased from 1.4% to 0.5% in the week ending March 18.
A total of 14 new cases were detected from 2,652 samples with a weekly sample positivity rate of 0.5% as compared to last week’s total of 28 new cases from 2,027 samples, as per the weekly bulletin issued by the state Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme.
One COVID-19 death was reported during the week (March 12-18) taking the total deaths in the Omicron wave to 37. The patient was elderly and had comorbidities, the IDSP stated.
The bulletin also stated more than 15.69 lakh doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered across all age groups including 23,953 precautionary or 3rd doses. “All elderly above 60 years of age can now take the 3rd dose if 9 months have passed after the second dose,” it added.
COVID-19 vaccination in children above 12 years of age has now started with the Corbevax vaccine, the IDSP informed. A total of 90,120 doses have been administered in the 15–18-year age group, it said.
Meanwhile, the bulletin stated that the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India has written to all states for increased surveillance, testing and scale up of COVID-19 Vaccination, due to increase in cases across South East Asia.
