Poster making & skit competitions held to promote Lotha Language

The Lotha Academy with the Lotha Naga Cultural Resource Center, Mount Tiyi College organised the Pre-Festival of Lotha Language Festival to promote the importance of Lotha Language at Government Higher Secondary School, Wokha on April 27.

The pre-festival was marked with competition on skit and poster making where various schools both Government and Private Schools under Wokha Town participated.

The winner of the poster making competition will be displayed as well the winner of the skit competition will be performing on the Festival Day which is scheduled on May 4.

Elabemo Kinghen, Programme Co-ordinator in his speech highlighted the importance of Lotha Language and how lotha language has been stagnant for so long and felt the need to work more on promoting Lotha language.

He said that the best channel to spread the awareness on promoting and conserving of Lotha Language is through the schools for which the competitions were held among the schools. He also mentioned that competitions on Folksongs, Spelling bee, Poetry Recitation & Exposition will be held on the Festival Day. He also mentioned that this programme is first of its kind held for promoting the importance of Lotha Language.

Being initial, the competition was held only for the schools within Wokha Town but the academy look forward to organizing such more programmes in the days to come which will involve the Whole Wokha District, Kinghen added.
Lastly, Kinghen appreciated the students for their participations in the competition.

The winners of the poster making were: 1st Chonchibemo Ezung (Perennial School); 2nd position; Mhasen Patton (GHSS Wokha); and 3rd position Chonchanthung Ezung (Fernbrook School). In the ski category only Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Wokha participated.
