Dimapur, June 2 (MExN): The chief engineer Power department Nagaland has been appealed to issue strict directives with regard to execution of the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY) scheme in the state. In a letter addressed to the chief engineer ‘a concerned responsible citizen’ and social activist Chubatangit Jamir, noted that there have been reports from villages including Phek and Zunheboto districts showing no signs of progress under the scheme of rural electrification. This (report), Jamir said, needs to be taken very seriously and the funds under RGGVY must be utilized judiciously. Jamir in the letter noted that RGGVY scheme which envisions complete rural electrification “such schemes seldomly takes place after a gap of two or three decades in the entire country”. Hence it was imperative for the proper implementation of the RGGVY scheme “so as to benefit citizens of the state”.
While also appreciating the commitment of the power department, Jamir called on the chief engineer to issue strict directives “to execute the work as per terms and conditions of work orders”. Failing which, Jamir cautioned that as ‘a concerned responsible citizen’ he would “not hesitate to move Public Interest litigation in appropriate forum” to ensure the scheme is fully implemented.
