Catholic Youth Association (CYA) of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Diphupar Rongmei, celebrated its golden jubilee on December 29.
Dimapur, December 29 (MExN): The Catholic Youth Association (CYA) of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Diphupar Rongmei, celebrated its golden jubilee with Most Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima, as the main celebrant on December 29.
In his homily, Bishop Thoppil urged the gathering ‘to practice forgiveness, live a just life in one’s job and share one’s faith.’ He encouraged the youth to build up an intimacy with God through prayer, know one’s faith by taking a journey every day with Christ to know him better, to love him deeper and to live with him happier. During the felicitation program, Johnny Ruangmei quoted Psalm 23 and said to not be afraid as the Lord is protecting and guiding with His “rod and staff” the youth and community of the church.
Some of the guest present were Johnny Ruangmei, OSD to the Government of Nagaland and CAN President; Dr Lawrence Kithan, president of Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement; Rita Kikon, president of Nagaland Catholic Women Association; Fr Johnson, parish priest of Our Lady of Mount Carmel; priests and nuns from different communities and well-wishers.
The CYA of Our Lady of Lourdes Church was established in the year 1971 with about 20 members, today the number has grown to over 80 members.
