Kohima, October 27 (MExN): The Kohima Electrical Division, Department of Power launched the commissioning of Prepaid Electricity Meters at Electrical colony, Kohima on October 26. The official residence of the Engineer-in-Chief, Department of Power was the first consumer to be provided with prepaid connection.
Er Rükongutuo Suohu, Executive Engineer, Electrical Division, Kohima in a press release informed that the said connection was done in the presence of the Vice Chairman, Secretary and GB of the colony along with officials of the department and the executing agency M/s Universal Power Solutions.
The department will be commissioning the pre-paid meters installed earlier in few earmarked colonies on a daily basis while also sensitizing the consumers on the functionalities of the newly installed meters.
The pre-paid electricity metering is a programme of the Government of India under the Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) to address inaccurate billings, customer satisfaction and reduction of AT&C Losses.
Gradually all conventional consumer meters in major towns of the State is expected to be replaced by prepaid meters in a phased manner.
