The present State boundaries shall remain as they are, however, “the political agreement will be for all Nagas,” Gen. (Retd) MB Neokpao Konyak said in his ‘41st (Naga) Republic Day’ message.
“The WC, NNPGs are mere messengers of the Naga people and what the Naga people aspire for, then and now, considering the contemporary political realities, we have negotiated in the best possible manner,” the President, GPRN/NSCN said.
According to him, the WC, NNPGs has reaffirmed the spirit and essence of the Plebiscite of May 16, 1951 through the Agreed Position of November 17, 2017.
While hinting at transparency, he said that the WC has made available to all the “status paper” with the Government of India and added, “What is acceptable today, Nagas must have it, leaving the door open for future democratic discourse on unresolved issues.”
He further described the “Mass Rally of March 9, 2020” in Nagaland under the aegis of Nagaland GB Federation for early solution as a “great message to GOI.”
‘Unite once again’: Singnya
Meanwhile, Brig. (Retd) S. Singnya, Kedahge, Federal Government of Nagaland in his message to the people on the ‘65th Republic Day,’ said that it remains committed to the vision of the past leaders. He stated that the time has come for the Naga people to unite and rally solidly behind the NNPGs and grab the chance for an early negotiated political settlement.
It is based on “mutually resolved issues and continue to democratically pursue the unresolved issues when the opportunity is present (sic),” Singnya said.
“Nagas are a Nation of trustworthy and straight forward people and we expect India to live up to her world image as the largest Democracy in the world,” he added.
He further maintained that procrastination “is harmful and detrimental for solving any human problem.”
‘Unite and stand together’
Yilow Humtsoe, Acting President of Naga National Council (Parent Body) in his speech called upon the Naga people to unite and stand together as “division and compromisation will prolong our destiny and this will be foolishness on our part.”
He also called for not forgetting “our down trodden people of Eastern Nagaland” and batted for a solution that will be inclusive of the Naga people of Myanmar.
