Public convention adopts New nomenclature Zeliangrong Baudi

Kohima, August 1 (MExN): The Zeliangrong general public convention was held at Peren Town on July 30 last. It was represented by all Zeliangrong village representatives of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland (AMN), all frontal organizations (AMN), All Zeliangrong Students’ Union (AZSU, AMN), Zeliangrong Students Union Nagaland (ZSUN), Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Delhi, Zeliangrong Mipui Organization, national workers and state wise Zeliangrong organizations.

The second session began with an introduction of the Zeliangrong Interim Body members, Zeliangrong Constitution Amendment (Drafting) Committee, former presidents and leaders, representatives of Naga organizations, students, research scholars, Zeliangrong Research Forum, Manipur, national workers etc.

The convener Ningthaodai Gonmei presided over the session. He reviewed the resolutions of the 30th October 2009 of Zeliangrong general public convention, Tamenglong. Brief background of the convention was highlighted and agenda was open for discussion.

Based on the resolution No III, (B) of Zeliangrong general public convention, held at Tamenglong Manipur on 30th October 2009, the convention of Peren 2010 unanimously adopted the new nomenclature “Zeliangrong Baudi” as the name of the apex body of the Zeliangrong (AMN) with effect from this day the 30th July 2010, a release received said today.

The House after minute deliberation on various aspects of the constitution (Amendment), unanimously approved and adopted the Draft Constitution (Amendment) 2010 to be the Constitution of the Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN).

The House, in order to constitute new regular executive of central, states and zones, election commission members were appointed to begin electoral process. Those persons appointed as assigned to be included; DP Panmei- returning officer, Kaningbe Neume- presiding officer and T. Mirhu- polling officer.

A release received here also stated that the present ZIB, based on resolution no 2 of Zeliangrong general public convention, 30th October, Tamenglong, shall continue in office till regular House of the apex body is constituted and shall supervise the entire electoral process 2010. The electoral process is to complete within 60 days as per the provision of the constitution.
