Public support crucial in Naga political issue

MLA & Chairman Nagaland State Mineral Development Corporation (NSMDC) C. Kipili Sangtam today asserted that with all its sincere efforts the entire legislators from the 11th NLA including the two sitting member of Parliament (MP) had unanimously endorsed themselves to work for the unity in solving the long pending Naga political issue, adding that a consensus decision to give unflinching support towards the initiatives irrespective of party affiliations was taken in their sitting.

Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion of dedicating the ‘Singrep Village Guard Morung Log Drum’ here at Singrep village some 20 KMs away from Kiphire Town, Sangtam commented, unless the Naga political issue comes under the umbrella of the entire mandate of the Naga, a big question will arise which will signify as blocked and hurdles in the process of solving the long pending Naga issue and suggested that the genuine mandate support of the general public should be viewed seriously as it has the key role to facilitate the ongoing process.

Expressing his gratitude to DAN government under the able leadership of chief minister Neiphiu Rio for taking a tireless efforts in bringing all the Naga National Freedom fighter functionaries, Sangtam said, a ‘Journey of Common Hope’ initiated by the Forum for Nag Reconciliation (FNR) open a peaceful platform where uniting the entire functionaries was put forth in its full swing. Urging upon the common people to support the initiatives of the FNR and the DAN Political Affairs Committee (PAC), he said the journey would prove a futile without the mandate support of the general public.

Stressing the importance of maintaining community unity, Sangtam said, in order to provide a big platform for peace, unity and oneness we should have the courage to forgive others and in the meantime be ever ready to accept the apology tender to us by our rivals. He said, Kiphire being the newly added districts of Nagaland had automatically become the centre of multi-culture society comprises of different communities viz; Sangtam, Yimchunger, Sema etc. and added that the people of the district were fortunate enough to have such multi-culture society as it adds and signifies the richness of the cultures and traditions and urge the people to preserve the unique culture and traditions with seriousness.

Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire C. M Tsanglao who was also the guest of honour on the occasion in his short address acknowledge the people of the village for having maintain their cultural identity in fair way and further urge them to preserve the same with its best effort so as to pass it to the youngsters thereby their unique culture identity never got wasted under whatsoever circumstances. Stating that the newly dedicated Morung Log drum added a new asset to the community, he said the people of the village still remain loyal to their forefathers by maintaining the rich and aged-of cultures and traditions. Expressing his satisfaction over the practice of the maintaining culture identity till date he wishes the people of the village to remain steadfast to their culture and traditions.

R. L Akamba ex-MLA in his short address expresses his gratitude to MLA Kipili Sangtam for willingly accepting their invitation and grace the occasion as the chief guest. Terming Sangtam as a man of wide vision he said, ‘though he is not from this constituency he had shown a tremendous concerned to us for which we should open an eye for the support of this kind of leaders.’

Thsanthang Yimchumger, Dy. Commandant VG, Kiphire, Yamkimong, Hd GB Kiphire Town also spoke on the occasion. The dignitaries among others who attended the function includes, Maotemsu, SP, Kiphire, Amentoli, EAC HQ, CMO, Kiphire, DIC Manager, Dr. Tsilise, Er. Hosheto, EE NH 155, Likhumse Vice president ENSF, officials from NSMDC, senior party leaders, elders from various villages etc. Earlier the program was led by R. Tsitongse President SYSA, a welcome speech was proposed by Y. Tsithrongkyu Retd. Asst. Commdt VG, the program was also enlightened with the presentation of cultural troupes from Thsingmujanglaru, Kiphire, Mahila Group Singrep village and VG Singrep village. The program winds up with a mass feast.
