Queen Mary Higher Secondary School (QMHSS) Mokokchung organised its second Science Exhibition 2024 under the theme “Sustainable Technology” on Friday at its school premises.
The event, part of the school's academic program, was graced by Sentinenla, the District Education Officer (DEO) of Mokokchung, as the special guest.

In her address, the DEO congratulated the school, stating that it is a pride of the district due to its consistent good results. She encouraged students to pursue the science stream, highlighting its many prospects in the current scenario. However, she noted that very few students in the district choose the science stream, attributing this to the fact that only three schools in the town offer it. She urged other private schools to introduce science streams in their curricula.

The DEO also encouraged private schools to include skill education in their programs in addition to the standard textbook curriculum. She emphasized that this would help students acquire practical knowledge, similar to what government schools offer. She remarked that many unemployed youths with graduation and post-graduation degrees are dependent on their parents, becoming “parasites to society.”
Speaking on the theme, Sentinenla stated that sustainable technology and sustainable development go hand in hand. She encouraged students to embrace the theme and come up with solutions to tackle climate change comprehensively.
The exhibition featured various models built by students based on the theme, with participants competing in four different categories.
