Tuensang, December 12 (MExN): The District Quality Assurance Committee (DQAC) meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall in Tuensang on December 10 under the chairpersonship of Deputy Commissioner Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa (NCS). During the meeting, District Programme Manager for Quality Assurance (DPM-QA) Mununu Vero presented an overview of the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) and assessment protocols. The presentation highlighted ongoing activities in Tuensang and Noklak districts.
Medical Officer from the Primary Health Centre in Shamator, Dr. Mhathung, provided updates on the activities under the Shamator block.
A key resolution of the meeting was the formation of two committees: the District Quality Assurance Committee (DQAC) for Tuensang and the District Family Planning Indemnity Sub-Committee. It was also mandated that all health units under the Chief Medical Officer’s establishment—including District Hospitals (DH), Community Health Centres (CHC), Primary Health Centres (PHC), Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHC), and Health and Wellness Centres-Sub Centres (HWC-SC)—take steps toward achieving Kayakalp and NQAS certifications by December 2026 as directed by the Government of India.
Members emphasized the importance of timely monitoring of health facilities. Key performance indicators must be submitted monthly to the district quality assurance unit. Additionally, measures were discussed to ensure that equipment and consumables indented by targeted health units reach them without delay.
The committee resolved to conduct quarterly meetings beginning in 2025, scheduled for March, June, September, and December, with provisions for emergency meetings as needed. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioner, Chief Medical Officer, Extra Assistant Commissioner, Medical Officers, District Programme Manager (QA), and District Monitoring Officer (NHM).
