More than 200 players today turned up at the residential scholarship trials here at Indira Gandhi Stadium conducted by Rajasthan United FC in association with Kohima Town Club.
The Club targeting the age group below 18 came for scouting in the state of Nagaland for the first time.
RUFC, an Indian professional football club is based in Jaipur, Rajasthan and founded in 2018 .
The club has a full-fledged football residential Academy/club.
Dinesh Negi, CEO Rajasthan United FC said the Club will select players in Nagaland for residential academy from the age group of U-10, U-13, U-15 and U-18 and reserved team for the club.
He said the trials was aimed at scouting talented from Nagaland and nurturing them through the club's residential football program.
More than 200 participants turned up for Dimapur trials on Monday and also a similar number in the state capital Kohima today, he informed and adding that they are looking forward to scout 5-10 players from different age category in Northeast.
Negi said the club was focusing more on players in the 10-11 years age group so that they can give them proper training and specific diet so that they can become professional player.
He also said that scholarship will be provided to the selected player on different basis
He also informed the club will be conducting trials in Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim as part of the trials for the Northeast region after which the players will be selected for the academy.
Kohima Town Club member Mathew Yhome said the Club was assisting the Rajasthan United in order to promote state players to higher level and trial was one such area where players can be scouted and trained professionally.
He expressed gratefulness to the RUFC for choosing Nagaland as part of the scouting trials adding that it was very difficult for the players to travel for trail outside Nagaland and hoped the upcoming footballer will be selected for the academy where they can produce national players in the future.
