Re-poll in six polling stations in Outer Manipur

IMPHAL APRIL 28 (NNN): Against the Congress party's demand in as many as 19 polling stations for repoll, Election Commission of India (ECI) ordered fresh polls in only six polling stations in the Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary constituency where the polling was held on April 26.

The fresh polls in these six polling stations spread across three assembly segments in Ukhrul district and Senapati district will be held on April 30 (Tuesday), the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Manipur said in a press release issued late on Saturday.

The polling stations where the re-poll will be held are - 44/20-Shangshak A, 44/36-Ukhrul (A), 44/41-Ukhrul (D-I) and 44/50-Ukhrul (F) in Ukhrul assembly segment, one - 45/50-Chingai – in Chingai AC, and one -47/33-Oinam (A1) in Karong assembly constituency of Senapati district.

The CEO stated that the ECI has, under sections 58(2) and 58A(2) of the Representation of People Act 1952, directed that the poll taken on April 26 in respect of the six polling stations to be void and appointed April 30 as the date for taking poll at the said six polling stations.
