Recognizing notorious groups won’t benefit anyone: FGN

Dimapur, July 9 (MExN): The Naga Army, FGN today said that recognizing ‘notorious’ groups such as the Singnya and Zopra groups as legal government would not benefit anyone or the nation.

A press received here from Maj Gen Hrraiy, Naga Army, FGN, while giving a clarification with regard to the stand off between the taxis association of Zunheboto and the FGN after an incident last month, said that despite the clarification given by the FGN, “some interested persons like the All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) Zunheboto unit seems to be trying to recognise a new group the notorious Singnya and Zopra group as legal government according to their (ANTA) statement appeared in Nagaland dallies on 6th July 2007”.  “Instead they are to know that to recognise such notorious group as legal government would not benefit anyone or the nation,” the FGN release added. It may be mentioned, that the ANTA Zunheboto Unit had on July 4, questioned the FGN, “Can the FGN deny that Zopra and Singnya belong to the Non-Accordist group of NNC/FGN?”

The ANTA Zunheboto Unit and the FGN has been countering each other for sometime, after some alleged FGN cadres harassed the passengers of five Sumo taxis on June 29 last. The FGN claims that the cadres were not FGN activist but criminals belonging to Zopra and Singnya group. The ANTA Zunheboto denies this.
