Rengma Hoho reiterates demand for Tseminyu district

DIMAPUR, MAY 22 (MExN): The Rengma Hoho today reminded the Nagaland State Government to consider its demand for a separate Tseminyu District at the earliest.

A press note from the Rengma Hoho president, Kenyuseng Tep and general secretary, Thonchilo Kath said that the Rengma people “have given enough justification to the government on its demand for a district and it is up to the government to do justice to the Rengmas.”

It saw “no reason as to why a district should not be given to Rengmas.”  “Rengmas have contributed for the Nagas and will continue to uphold its commitment towards the development and welfare of the Nagas and its interest and expect the government to reciprocate to our sacrifices. We believe our rights will not be subject to suppression by nitty gritty norms and add casualty to our rightful demand. Rengmas as a community are also equal to any other community of the Nagas and deserve recognition,” it asserted.

Stating that the Rengma people are demanding equal opportunities and rights, the hoho said that there is no intension to antagonize or polarize the issue.

It expressed hope that the government would grant their demand and urged leaders across party lines to support their demand.
