Rengma Hoho, RSZ demand action on Dimapur assault case

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 20 (MExN): The Rengma Hoho and the Rengma Selo Zi (RSZ) have condemned the assault and abduction of four youths in Dimapur on December 17.

The Rengma Hoho strongly condemned the actions of cadres from the NSCN/GPRN (Akato). The organization described the incident as a clear violation of human rights, labeling it a barbaric and cowardly act that has no place in a civilized society.

In their statement, the Rengma Hoho emphasized the urgent need for the Ceasefire Monitoring Cell to take decisive steps to prevent such atrocities. They demanded the swift arrest of all perpetrators and called for a public apology from the group responsible for this heinous act. Furthermore, they underscored the importance of holding those responsible accountable to ensure that justice prevails, and the rule of law is upheld.

Meanwhile, the Rengma Selo Zi (RSZ) issued an ultimatum to the government and the responsible group. They placed a charter of demands, which included the immediate arrest of the culprits within three days, legal action, and a public apology for their actions. The RSZ’s statement made it clear that failure to act within this timeframe would compel them to pursue democratic measures to ensure justice is served.

The RSZ and Rengma Hoho criticized the misuse of the guise of national service to perpetrate crimes against civilians, demanding that the government treat this matter with the urgency.

Both organizations stressed that the safety and dignity of every citizen must be safeguarded, and that incidents like these cannot be allowed to create an atmosphere of fear and lawlessness.
