Kohima, December 9 (MExN): Marking her foray into children literature, four books by Naga author Renthunglo Shitiri were launched on December 3 and 4 in Kohima.
The first three illustrated books titled, "The Mystery of the Lost Shoe,” "Saying Goodbyes," and "The Twins and the Naga Santa" were released at The Common Room Book Cafe, Kohima on December 3 by Suki Sochumlo Ezung, the ‘youngest’ Naga writer who already has 2 publications in her credit.
Published by the Heritage House Dimapur, the fourth, a chapter book titled "The Waiting" was launched by Vipralhou Kesiezie, former Director SCERT, the as special guest at the Nagaland Literature Festival, RCEMPA Kohima on December 4.
Introducing her books, Renthunglo shared on her personal conviction and the need to write stories with contextualised settings infused with the ethos and identity of the Naga people.
Drawing a parallel with the fireplace in a Naga kitchen where in the days of yore people would huddle up to listen to stories narrated by the elders, she also hoped that storybooks would become the modern fireplace that would bring families together in this disconnected generation.
Renthunglo Shitiri’s four books were also launched formally in Dimapur at Delhi Public School by its principal BK Nanda, on December 6 during the school assembly.
