Dimapur, April 5 (MExN): There is a suggestion pitched to the state government that the municipal advisory committees manning the municipal institutions should be reorganized. The Naga Council of Dimapur says that the government will do well against committing errors “for the second time.” A Naga Council leader issued a note today appreciating the government’s decision to dissolve the municipal advisory committees “as such committees cannot last for too long under provisions of the Act (which incidentally undergoes amendments as per recent Assembly decision).”
“It is pertinent for the government to reorganize advisory committees at an early date in its endeavor to build and serve the city and its people. Advisory body/committees provide support and inputs of public on developmental aspects of the city,” stated V. Zhimomi, Naga Council’s vice president. The note termed “vital importance” the government’s strict adherence to the criteria of the Act permitting to enlist only members from within concerned municipal jurisdiction.
“The adage that ‘only the wearer knows where the shoe pinches’ holds true to the situation in Dimapur which calls for enlistment of members from only within the Dimapur municipal jurisdiction who best knows where to apply the medicine.” The government will do well not to commit errors for the second time, the council said. The public is ever ready to support all welfare programs of the Dimapur municipality if it is taken into confidence, it added.
