DIMAPUR, AUGUST 17 (MExN): A huge cache of banned drug ‘Spasmoproxyvon’ and cough syrup (a controlled substance) was recovered by police in Dimapur on August 16. The seizure was made from a medicine distributor and wholesaler, one ‘M/S Medicine Centre’ located at Khakhu’s Building, Nyamo Lotha Road. The seized drugs comprised of 50, 400 capsules of ‘Spasmoproxyvon’ and 7500 bottles of two brands of cough syrup. According to the police, a raid was conducted at the said location on Tuesday at around noon following receipt of reliable information from sources. During the raid one person said to be a salesman was detained. He was identified as one Rinku Debnath. Police said that the arrested could not produce any documentary evidence (or clearance papers from the authority in concern) in support of the drugs seized. According to the norms, even licenced medicine dealers have permissible limits on the quantity of drugs stocked, police added.
